Dabbling in portraiture was much more difficult than I anticipated. And for whatever reason the creative energies of the world were not on my side as I tried to get creative shots. I was able to get a few good shots in, hope you enjoy…
Individual – Side Composition:
This girl was already sitting here in front of the Smith bldg, waiting for someone. With the great lighting and angle I asked to take a shot and got this great one of her. I think it would have been better if she was on the left side of the picture, but I like the background of this angle better.
Individual – Head & Shoulders:
This is my friend from my apartment complex. I wanted a fun texture behind her and I love this painting, so I combined the two. I like the color contrast too with the blue and the pink.
Individual – Full Body:
So studious. I appreciate when people can find time to read, and when they choose to do it on the grass. He made a great model.
Group Activity:
Studying nursing, these three women were having a group study session. I took a high angle to keep them looking fit. I love the middle subjects’ big smile.
Group Posed:
These are two of my business buddies. I like that they were both wearing blue plaid on this day. I had them drop one shoulder and not be square with the camera. I took a lower angle to make sure that they looked manly.
Individual Environmental:
He was hard at work. This made it difficult to get the picture without any blur in the dark lighting of the Crossroads. I cropped this shot a little bit so that you would only see the cool tile wall and not the boring painted wall to his left.

Brett I think that you did a good job! I liked that you got a lot of people just doing what they do everyday. All in their natural environment. Good job!

Thank you. I really like Humans of New York, I’ve wanted to do something similar in Rexburg.

Hi Brett, great job on your portraits! I really like the environmental photograph, it is interesting to look at and it has great color. The angle that you took the photo really draws someone into the photo.
