photo contest

I am going to enter one of my self portraits into a print competition. The print competition theme is always changing, but this time it is on creative self-portraits. I have fashioned my picture of off another artists’ work. I wonder if the judges will be able to determine where my inspiration came from.

If you can figure out who inspired me, leave me a comment below.

My Self Portrait

Self-Portrait: 12-6-14, 9am; Rexburg, ID; f/5.0; 0.3s; 18mm; ISO-800; Nikon D3200

Here I am…
I obviously edited this picture. I liked the black and white look. I almost landed on a colored style, but the black and white allowed for a better feel. I know that it is oversaturated. I tried very hard to get this look. I even dodged my picture in several places to get the feel to be just right all across the shot.

Without a remote, nor a tripod, this shot was fairly difficult to obtain. I was actually holding up the camera and pushing the button myself. I am glad that my shoulder did not give this away.

I chose the contest that my college’s Photographic society is putting on. The deadline is this upcoming week, so the timing is perfect, and it is stretching me since I hate pictures of myself. It still kind of pains me to be publishing this picture of me even though I really like the style of it. This competition is also a print contest so it will push me to making a high quality picture that I will be able to print off and display. I will be submitting this print assignment on 12/10/2014

Let me know what you think about my portrait.
