color study-blue (edited pictures)

For the color study I chose to focus on the color blue.

Shallow Focus:

Girl with Blue Glasses: 9-24-14; 9am; Rexburg, ID; f 5.0; 1/200; Cannon T3i - ISO-100; Focal length 50.0mm

This one was a tender mercy, she was just walking past with these beautiful glasses. She is very pretty herself and so I got this great shot of her with some great bokah in the back. I love that you can see me too in the reflection of her glasses.

Blue Paint: 9-24-14; 9am; Rexburg, ID; f 3.5; 1/1600; Cannon T3i – ISO-100; Focal length 22.0mm

I really like the texture of this image. Just the area two feet from me was in focus, nothing closer, nothing farther. I spot focused on that position and then repositioned to get it at the bottom of the picture. Even the car looks pretty with the blur. From the original I decided to put the actual curb off center and have the horizon end on the top third.

Deep focus:

VW Bus: 9-24-14; 9am; Rexburg, ID; f 18.0; 1/30s; 42.0mm; Canon T3i; ISO-100

I love VWs. I owned a ’63 Beetle that my friend took a picture of for her class, but since I sold it, I needed this shot of someone else’s VW. The lighting was wonderful. It sat below some trees so it gave it a real relaxed look, just like the feel the bus gives off. I cropped the image, and added in some exposure to make it not look so dark. I added back some of the color that the additional exposure took away. I brought up the shadows so that you could see some more of the detail in on the back of the car. By cropping it, I took the VW logo, which is the headliner, and got it in the left third. It is still close to the center vertically, but I wanted to see the top and bottom of the bus which places the logo in the center.

Biking: f 5.6; 1/50s; 18mm; ISO-100; Canon T3i

This bike is so blue. Although I had a large aperture, my zoom was so small that I still got a deep focus on the bikes, leaves, and concrete wall in the background. I cropped this picture and turned it slightly so that it did not seem so lopsided. I put the main part of the frame on the bottom third and the seat as close to the intersection of the top and right third to balance the picture.
