my secret identity

Project

How embarrassing. I am a guy that has to not only make a Pinterest account, but then share it with the world. Well, just those who are going to look at it to get an idea of what types of design and logos I like to base my personal brand off of.

Here is an example of one of my favorite designs that I found scrounging through Pinterest.

Cool headphone logo

I love this logo due to the simple idea behind it, and yet the intricacy of the lines and colors. The colors all go well together, and the negative space it beautiful. The contrast of the large image and the small text makes for an eye grabbing design.

On several of the other logos that I liked from pinterest there is a recurring theme of either really loud colors that pop out, or mellow colors with white typography. The logos are all flat design and many incorporate triangles. If triangles specifically are not used, most of them have a lot of geometric shapes.

So the moment you have all been waiting for, here is my identity pinterest board…

Others opinions of me…

So I also wanted to know what others think of me, on Google+ and Facebook I asked what word or phrase my friends would use to describe me. Within 9 hours, six (6) responses came from Google+ and the rest from Facebook. That kinda tells you something about which site is effective.

The following are their responses (unedited):

  • casual
  • upbeat
  • energetic (2 times)
  • a pure gentleman
  • single.
  • broad thinker/dreamer
  • 212 (3 times)
  • Ducky (from Pretty in Pink)
  • outgoing
  • awesome
  • facebook hacker
  • spontaneous
  • fun
  • dark blue
  • digging
  • classy
  • sweetheart
  • hot
  • crazy!
  • favorite
  • Jerusalem couch-sleeper
  • Jerusalem everywhere sleeper
  • to describe brett in a simple phrase would be impossible (that is my phrase describing you).
  • kind
  • State Farm (inside joke about me popping up whenever they needed me.)
  • charismatic
  • uplifting
  • Supercallifragalisticexpealidous
  • Reed’s Dairy

My initial response to this little exercise was that of aww. I didn’t think that many people would have cared to respond to my little plee to get their opinion of me. I realize that I have a lot of inside jokes with people, and I have friends that really care about me. Apparently I am also a fun person that likes others to be happy as well.

Now my hope for my logo is to be able to incorporate some aspects of the comments that people made of me. I feel this will incorporate who I am, since that is what people think of me. But I also want to focus my identity on casual business professionals. I am hoping to land a job in the music industry, this industry is somewhat a laidback group of people; we’re not talking accountants here, these people are analytical, but also creative and fun-loving.

In the mean time, before I get into the music industry I mean, I will probably be hired by smaller companies that are looking for someone with an analytical and visual background. For this reason I am really hoping to have a nice cross between professional, and aesthetically pleasing.
